Yes, we had a paper in WORLDS:

It's not as long-running as the previous one, but it's a lot more  
informative, I think.

I have long-standing plans to improve put() performance using  
techniques like those we used for get() in the WORLDS paper, but I  
haven't gotten around to them yet.

Not that I can think of offhand.  Do you have any suggestions/requests?
